Rickmansworth news - crime prevention at the Pensioners Forum

Crime prevention the hot topic at Pensioners forum

Crime Prevention officer Gary Sibson, attended the latest Rickmansworth Pensioner's Forum (13th June) and spoke to the group about distraction burglaries and top tips to stay safe.

Rickmansworth Pensioner ForumAround fifty pensioners from across the Three Rivers district came along to the meeting to hear from Gary and other speakers, including Charlotte Masters and Nick Denham from the Three Rivers District Council's Leisure Department, and David Muir from Watford Heart Support Group. Charlotte and Nick were on hand to ensure the attendees of the Rickmansworth Pensioners Forum were aware of the range of fitness, craft and leisure activities on offer throughout the summer, with particular emphasis on the popular Everyday Active programme. David Muir spoke to the forum about heart health and the support that is available from the Watford Heart Support Group.

Councillor Paul Goggins, the District Council's Pensioners' Champion and Chairman of the Pensioners' Forum, said:

"We're delighted that this meeting proved useful and informative for everyone who attended. Staying safe and staying fit and healthy are key issues for older residents, and meetings such as this are important in ensuring they are aware of the services available to them."

The Pensioners' Forum meets three times per year to discuss a range of issues and hear from a variety of speakers. The next meeting will take place on Friday 24 October 2008.
