Dazzling winner for dress design competition

Earlier in the year, Mark Speight from CBBC’s Smart and star of this year’s Watersmeet pantomime Cinderella, encouraged children and young people to put pen, paint and glitter glue to paper and create a dress Cinderella would wear to the Grand Ball.

To help facilitate the competition Mark drew a cartoon of Cinderella’s head with the area below left for the children to use their imagination and complete the picture by designing the missing dress.

Over 220 entries were received for the competition.

Valerie Slater, wardrobe mistress for pantomime producers Paul Holman Associates, recently judged the entries and was delighted with the response from all the budding designers.

Lauren Dowsett from Eastcote won the 12 to 15 year category and Olivia Vincent from Watford was the 8 to 11 years winner. Both will be presented with art materials.

Maddy Horne, aged eight, from Rickmansworth was the overall winner. Maddy will have her design created for the Disney Princess Cinderella doll which will be presented to her by the cast of Cinderella.
